EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team is in eighth place at the end of day one of the South Atlantic Conference Championships. The Wasps saw two program records fall as they recorded a pair of top-10 finishes.

Top Performances

Track
- Junior Maya Turner (Midland, Va.) finished 13th in the 400 meter prelims with her time of 1:01.34, while freshman Alexandria Scott (Fredericksburg, Va.) was hot on her heels in 14th with a 1:01.94.
- Junior Adrianna Hall (Salem, Va.) placed 17th in the 400-meter hurdles prelims, finishing in 1:18.79.
- Junior McKenzie Tate (Wytheville, Va.) placed 11th in the 800 meter prelims, posting a time of 2:22.61, while sophomore Tess Somerville (Chilhowie, Va.) was 14th in 2:25.05.
- Senior Elise McKinney (Church Hill, Tenn.) earned a top-10 finish, placing ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with her time of 12:31.32.

Field
- Senior Taylorann Cash (Buena Vista, Va.) got the Wasps on the board with a fifth-place finish in the discus throw, launching a toss of 37.35 meters to break her own program record. Senior Catie Leonard (Gray, Tenn.) was 25th with a 23.14-meter throw.
- Leonard was 15th in the hammer throw, putting up a distance of 36.46 meters, while Cash was 18th with her throw of 35.39 meters. Freshman Chloe Spence (Riner, Va.) was 19th with her 35.35 meter throw and senior Hope Shockley (Abingdon, Va.) was 24th with a throw of 32.00 meters.
- Sophomore Mia Spangler (Floyd, Va.) picked up another point for E&H as she placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.34 meters, breaking her own school record. Senior Alyssa Chappell (Church Hill, Tenn.) was 24th with her distance of 4.91 meters.
