Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Defeats Emory & Henry, 2-0, In SAC Home Opener

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry University Women's Soccer Team (3-2, 0-2 SAC) dropped its 2025 home opener in South Atlantic Conference play to Lenoir-Rhyne University (5-1, 2-0 SAC) Saturday evening. The Bears scored once in the first half and once more in the second on their way to the 2-0 victory. The game was delayed for nearly two hours at the beginning of the second half due to inclement weather in the area.

How It Happened
-  Lenoir-Rhyne came out firing as the Bears recorded seven attempts in the direction of the E&H goal in the opening 18 minutes of play, but the game remained scoreless. The Bears opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when they drew a foul inside the 18-yard box and Lucia Hidalgo finished from the penalty spot to make it 1-0. Neither team could convert over the remaining 22 minutes and the game headed into the break at 1-0.
- LR made it 2-0 in the 61st minute on a set piece when Isabella Zicchinolfi whipped in a corner that was finished by Katie Durham and the visitors' margin grew to two. The home team continued to battle, but could not break through on the scoreboard as Lenoir-Rhyne took the win by the 2-0 final margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Hana Kirsch (Powell, Tenn.), junior midfielder/forward Charlotte Stavis (Charlotte, N.C.) and sophomore midfielder Cristina Ciofani (Oakville, Ontario, CANADA) finished with one shot each.
- Senior goalkeeper Adriana Rehg (Talbott, Tenn.) made seven saves in goal for the Wasps. 

Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
- Durham tallied her goal on five shots, two on target, while Hidalgo found the back of the net on one of her four attempts. Mya Rivera added five shots for LR in the win.
- Riley Miller earned the win for Lenoir-Rhyne. 

Up Next
- The Wasps step out of conference play on Thursday, September 25 when they host the Bruins of Bob Jones University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from the Food City Sports Complex.
