Emory & Henry Women’s Soccer Represented On All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Soccer Team has seen one of its players named to the 2014 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference teams, ODAC officials announced Thursday. The teams are voted on by the league's 13 head coaches.

Senior forward Bethany Myer (Hickory, N.C.) was named to the all-conference third team after leading the Wasps with 13 points scoring four goals and adding a team-high five assists this year.

"Bethany exemplified what it means to play tough and give it her all," commented Head Coach Linda Schirmeister-Gess. "She was a threat any time the play went near her, and opposing teams certainly had to adapt their play against her. This showed the respect and recognition they gave her."

Myer assisted on both goals in Emory & Henry's 2-0 win over Marymount University on September 7 and had a goal and an assist in the Wasps' 6-1 ODAC victory over Randolph College on October 5.

The Hickory, North Carolina native is the third Wasp in the past two years to be named to the All-ODAC teams after a six-year span where no E&H players received conference honors.

"Bethany worked incredibly hard and very intentionally to improve and become the all-conference player she was and therefore I am ecstatic that this work was rewarded. It certainly is not an award that was just given, she truly earned it," Gess added.

Emory & Henry finished the year with a 4-13 overall record and a 3-9 mark in ODAC play with seven losses coming on a two-goal or less margin.
